It is founded on principles such as Ṛta (cosmic order), the unity of matter and consciousness, and the rationality of the universe. This approach emphasizes observation, reasoning, and the application of knowledge for human welfare, promoting harmony between humanity and nature.

What is Vedic Physics? Vedic Physics is the systematic study of physical reality based on scientific concepts, observational knowledge, and natural laws from Vedic literature. It encompasses various branches of natural science, including matter, energy, space, time, motion, and celestial phenomena. The study of Vedic Physics preserves ancient scientific traditions, encourages interdisciplinary research, and inspires new perspectives on fundamental questions about nature and the universe.

Methodology of Vedic Scientific Inquiry The Vedic scientific method, a comprehensive approach to understanding the universe, integrates observation, logical reasoning, empirical verification, mathematical analysis, and textual knowledge. It emphasizes critical thinking, empirical observation, and logical reasoning, supporting the development of various scientific disciplines in ancient India. This methodology provides valuable insights into the history and philosophy of scientific inquiry.

Difference between Pramāṇa (Vedic Epistemology) and the Scientific Method Pramāṇa, the Vedic epistemological framework, and the scientific method are both systematic approaches to acquiring knowledge, differing in scope and methodology. Pramāṇa encompasses both material and non-material subjects, utilizing perception, inference, comparison, and reliable testimony, while the scientific method focuses on empirical investigation of the natural world through observation, experimentation, and reproducibility. While both value observation and logical reasoning, Pramāṇa offers a broader philosophical foundation, whereas the scientific method provides rigorous procedures for testing and validating explanations of physical phenomena.

Matter, Consciousness and Energy The Vedic understanding of reality is based on four fundamental principles: Brahman, the ultimate ground of reality; Prakṛti, the primordial basis of the physical universe; Puruṣa, the conscious principle; and Kāla, the principle of cosmic change. These principles are interconnected, with Brahman as the foundation, Prakṛti providing the material basis, Puruṣa representing consciousness, and Kāla governing cosmic evolution. The interaction between Prakṛti and Puruṣa is essential for creation and life, with matter and energy manifesting from Prakṛti and consciousness arising from Puruṣa. Vedic Physics views matter as an organized manifestation of Prakṛti, governed by universal laws (Ṛta). It emphasizes the eternal nature of matter, its continuous transformation, and its existence in different states and qualities. The framework also explores the relationship between matter and energy, the atomic concept, and the role of motion in the universe.

Guṇa and Dravya Vedic Physics, as explained by the Vaiśeṣika Darśana, categorizes the universe into nine fundamental substances (dravyas) and twenty-four qualities (guṇas). Saṁskāra as Energy: The Principle of Transformation and Continuity Saṁskāra, a fundamental Vedic concept, represents the capacity of actions and interactions to leave lasting influences on systems, guiding future transformations. It parallels the conservation of energy in physics, suggesting that every action leaves a potential influence within a system. Saṁskāra manifests in various forms, including momentum, mental impressions, and elastic restoring tendencies, and plays a crucial role in biological systems, consciousness, and the principle of causality.

Energy and Consciousness in the Vedic Framework The Vedic framework presents a broader understanding of energy (Śakti) and consciousness (Puruṣa) than modern physics.
